It is very important for women at any age to have hobbies. However, because I am in my 30s, I have come to think that women in their 30s need hobbies more than any age group. For me, after 30, most women are now in their career path with schooling days over. If one has a family, they are fully immersed with that and because of this, friends might be few and meeting up might be a challenge as everyone is doing the same hectic things.
Hobbies are a great way to have something just for yourself, you can pick something that you can do on your own. Taking time for yourself is a great way to explore new interests and reconnect with your old self. Other than self discovery, it is great way to have self care, outlet for stress relief and just a general break from routine
Sports
I will not bore you with the telling you about the benefits of exercising, but picking a sport which you enjoy is a great hobby option. A number of people select from picket ball, tennis, netball, swimming or simply going to the gym. Not only do you get the blood flowing, it is a great way to meet and connect with other people.
Gardening
It could be that I have been following a lot of homemaking channels on YouTube but the idea of gardening is very appealing. Not only does it increase your curb appeal but it is a hobby that gives back. Not only do you have increased pride with your home, you also sneak in some exercise in there as well
Painting
I love this hobby as it can be pretty useful as in décor for your home and also home made gifts for loved ones. Painting can be a tranquil activity that reduces stress and promotes relaxation. If you have a bit of money to spare, you can purchase canvas and do your painting on that. Otherwise painting on paper works!
Candle & Pottery Making
Candles are pretty and useful as they are actually functional. With so many candle stores popping up, it would be fun to learn how to make your own candles. They can be for your home or gifts to loved ones. I will also add pottery making here. This can seem expensive, but the African technique of making clay pots seem to be cost effective. The precise, hands-on nature of shaping clay can be both a creative challenge and a rewarding experience.
Scrapbooking
Scrapbooking has always been something that I want to try. It combines storytelling and preserving loving memories. I do want to say, it is one of those hobbies you need to watch out for as it is addictive and can be costly.
Learning a New Language
With advent of apps such as Duolingo, it has never been easier to learn new languages. If you love travelling or want to watch TV shows from other countries, learning the language can be a fun hobby to do
Taking up Music
I have always wanted to learn to play an instrument. Even as easy as the tambourine. If you can do tutorials or find a tutorial, go ahead and learn an instrument. To add on, if you are gifted, sharpening your voice or musical cord is always a good idea
Food hobby
Food is always a good idea. When I say taking up food as a hobby I mean that learning how to cook special dishes. Eating the same thing can be boring. There are content creators who are gaining popularity with cooking things from scratch such as Nara Smith. My favorite cooking hobby is baking. Baked goods are always a good idea.
A Blog or YouTube Channel
I have both a blog and a YouTube channel. This is a great way to be artistic, share your passions and connect with the rest of the world. However, I should give you a disclaimer, most blogs and Youtube channels generate some money if the creator is consistent. In my experience, once one starts earning money a hobby might start feeling like a job
